Dear Brea school supporter,
Good school districts require quality school boards.
Picking the right people to sit on Brea’s school board is a critical factor in ensuring the health and success of this district.
Deciding who to support sometimes just depends on asking the right questions:
If my candidates are elected...
...will our school district be able to hire and retain the best teachers, and will we---by our words and actions---consistently support and encourage the valuable work that they do?
...will we treat all those who keep our schools running---not just teachers and principals, but secretaries, custodians, bus drivers, classroom aides, district office personnel and more---always with dignity and respect, as equal partners in our district’s success?
...will we value the essential role of parents, seeking them out and including them in decision making, creating a place for their talents and encouraging them to give?
...will we talk honestly and often to all those who need to hear, keeping them current with all that’s important so that they can play their parts well?
...will we listen even better than we speak, so that the questions, comments and concerns of staff, parents and students are acknowledged, so that people keep faith in the process and problems that need fixing are solved?
...will we strive hard to be inclusive, reaching out to the diverse groups that make up our community, bringing them in and ensuring that their voices are heard?
...will we keep standards high and hold administration accountable for performance? Will we set goals that focus on achievement and that keep our schools safe and strong?
...will we keep reaching out to improve, looking beyond ourselves to the other fine districts of Orange County, the state and the nation, studying what works well for students and schools, and bringing the best home to Brea?
...will we respect all, behave always with dignity, and in all our words and deeds, constantly uphold the values, goals, mission and reputation of this proud and successful school district?
As long-time advocates for Brea’s schools---people who, like you, rolled up our sleeves and led organizations important to Brea’s kids, we’re enthusiastically supporting Matt Seargeant, Sue Nowers and Teresa Hampson for election to the BOUSD Board of Education Nov. 7:
Signed,
